MagnoliaDate Review: Profile, Rates, and Everything You Need to Know in 2025

MagnoliaDate is a new Asian dating site that only came up on our radar a few months ago, so we decided to give it a chance. As usual, we researched its online reputation before doing a short trial run. Here’s what we learned about MagnoliaDate in a few weeks.

The Sign-Up Process on MagnoliaDate

There are two ways to set up a MagnoliaDate profile quickly:

1. Google sign-in. Just connect your Gmail account, confirm it, and you’re in. It takes under 60 seconds, but we recommend using a separate email for online dating for safety reasons.
2. Email and password sign-up. Website will ask for your name, date of birth, and gender. Once you come up with a strong enough password, the dating site will forward you to your dashboard.

Since there’s no personality quiz at registration, your profile will be empty. You don’t have to fill it out right away, but adding at least one photo will gain you instant attention. When you have a spare half an hour, go ahead and fill out the standard fields, like your interests and appearance, and write a short self-description.

3 Dating Tips for Your Success

1. Do not repeat your standard profile fields’ info in the short bio. Instead, focus on your personality and make yourself sound interesting and attractive.
2. Make your gallery exciting. Mix in portraits, selfies, and full-height shots, taken indoors and outdoors, to show off your best traits. 
3. Keep your partner preferences open. Add your general relationship expectations, but don’t bother with specific hair or eye color, unless you have a specific type. 

MagnoliaDate Pricing

MagnoliaDate is a freemium Asian dating site. You can register, set up a dating profile, and explore some features for free, but advanced tools are only available to paying members. To check if platform is worth the expense, we set up a dating profile and tested the full scope of free and premium tools. Here’s what we learned.

Free Features

Aside from registration and setting up your dating profile, with a basic membership, you’ll also get access to:

• Basic search filters. As a free member, you can sort your matches by age, gender, and country.
• Like gallery. This tab works like swiping, letting you choose between the Fast filter (all members) and the Wide filter (age, gender, and country). 
• Public profile access. You can explore any profile you like among the search results or in the Like gallery. You’ll have access to public photos and personal details, but some pictures are only available after you contact a girl and get a response from her.
• Favorites list. It’s a way to keep track of the members you like best and want to contact at some point. Here, you’ll see all the profiles you “star” when exploring MagnoliaDate.

These may not seem like much, but we found member profiles extra engaging and nearly addictive. So, even if you decide never to upgrade, you’ll still have plenty of fun and excitement on MagnoliaDate.

Short Price Overview

As a new member, you’ll get 20 bonus credits after registration and an offer to purchase your first 35-credit bundle for $2.99. Beyond these initial offers, standard rates will apply:

• 35 credits — $12.99
• 50 credits — $19
• 100 credits — $33
• 250 credits — $75
• 400 credits — $100
• 1,000 credits — $200

These numbers probably mean nothing to you, so let’s put them in perspective.

Paid Features

After exhausting the MagnoliaDate free toolset, we purchased 1,000 credits and tested all paid features:

• Live chat — 2 credits/minute. This was the feature we used most, spending well over 500 credits, which bought us over 4 hours of chats, spread in short bursts across a couple of weeks. 
• Live chat stickers — 5 credits. They’re cute and make conversations look more like your WhatsApp chats, but we found them mostly worthless, a waste of money.
• Mail — 10 credits for the first letter, 30 credits for the following emails.  It’s another useful tool for introducing yourself to potential matches. You can squeeze a lot into 3,000 characters, much more than you would write in 5 minutes of live chat. Besides, mail mitigates the 12-hour time difference. It’s a handy tool, definitely worth a try.
• Photo messages — 10 credits. It’s a nice and relatively affordable way to get more pictures from your match. We also use this tool to check if the girls are real. We ask them to share a photo in a specific outfit, pose, or location. Since most girls on MagnoliaDate are real, it doesn’t give them much trouble. We only ran across one or two ladies who refused our request.
• Voice messages — 10 credits. Another handy feature, especially if you want to check English proficiency. A short audio clip is usually enough to gauge how well a girl speaks English and decide if you like the sound of her voice, if it matters.
• Video messages — 50 credits. We only opened a couple of video messages because the cost is too high. It would take only 20 video clips to go through the largest credit bundle. So we recommend you use them sparingly if you’re on a budget.

Overall, we were happy with the premium toolset on MagnoliaDate. Stickers were the only letdown, while video messages seemed overpriced. The rest of the features were useful and fairly priced, in our experience. We used most of them extensively and burned through 1,000 credits in only two weeks, but we expect you can stretch them to a month once you find the one girl you wish to settle down with.

Dating Process on MagnoliaDate

As we’ve mentioned, our MagnoliaDate test lasted a few weeks, so we feel confident sharing our insights and tricks to help you get the most out of your experience.

Search

The Search tab on MagnoliaDate is pretty straightforward, with only a few filters, such as:

• ID or Name. This feature can be useful if you lose track of a girl’s profile, but remember her name or ID (which is much less likely).
• Online only. The search results show only those members who are currently online by default. We recommend turning it off to expand your options, especially if you log in at the same time every day and see the same profiles. 
• Country. Although MagnoliaDate is a primarily Asian dating site, you can explore the global dating pool, too. Just start typing the name of the country, and you’ll see it on the list. 
• Age range. Platform welcomes singles of all ages. While there are plenty of young ladies in their 20s and 30s, you’ll also find mature women over 40 or 50, if you’re after someone closer to your age.
• Gender and orientation. By default, this field will match what you specify at signup, but you can switch things up at any time. We were sneaky and changed this field to “woman looking for a man” to see male profiles and gauge the competition. You can do so too, to check what other guys are offering and to see how you can make your profile stand out. 

Profiles matching your filters appear in a grid, highlighting the main profile photo, name, and age. You can instantly add a profile to favorites, start a chat, write a letter, or explore the profile in detail.

Browse Profiles

If you want to see the full profile, don’t just click on the photo on the search results page. Instead, hover over the photo and find the “Profile” button at the bottom. From there, you’ll get to the girls’ page. It has three main sections:

1. Gallery and action panel. Scroll through the photos, and if you like what you see, “like” the profile, add it to favorites, or “Say Hello”. You can also instantly start a chat or write a letter. The complaint button is also available if you wish to block or report a member.
2. Profile details. Here, you’ll find appearance, hobby and habits, and social information, as well as a self-summary and a “Who am I looking for?” description. Use these details to gauge compatibility and start a conversation with something more exciting than a bland stock comment.
3. Similar profiles. These are the same profiles you’d get on the search page, but with tiny thumbnails. So it’s usually more convenient to return to the Search tab instead of using this section.

Detailed profiles are one of the best things about MagnoliaDate, and we spent many hours exploring them.  

Communicate

Chat and mail interfaces are pretty similar, with all the standard texting app features. There’s a text box at the bottom with buttons for attaching files and adding stickers or emojis. The conversation history is displayed at the top. Mail interface is much the same, but without stickers. 

We found that starting conversations is easiest from member profiles, but to keep track of all chats, Letters, and Chat tabs are best. The inbox could use some work, since the only way to sort through messages is to bookmark them. It won’t be a problem once you settle into a routine with one or two girls, but we had trouble navigating all our message chains throughout our trial. At some point, you might have to delete messages to clean up your inbox and avoid missing important messages.

Extra Features You Will Like

MagnoliaDate has a few more standout tools we wanted to highlight in this review:

• Swiping in the Like tab. If you use the wide filter, it’ll work like the search tab, only you can focus on a single profile and scroll through the gallery before liking or dismissing a profile. In our experience, this approach feels more organic and fun.
• Notification management. You’ll see all member activity in the separate section on the right. Best of all, you can turn it off to focus on your search or keep it active when you don’t mind interruptions.
• Tutorial and FAQ. We didn’t use either much, but if you’ve never tried online dating before, the Tutorial will be extra helpful. It comes with screenshots and step-by-step instructions anyone can follow. Take a peek at it if you can’t wrap your head around the MagnoliaDate interface and tools at first glance.

Every little thing counts when it comes to your online dating experience. So don’t discount these MagnoliaDate features before testing them.

Perfect Online Dating Experience: Expert’s Impression

Our MagnoliaDate test was fun and exciting. We spent a few days poking around and exploring the free tools before upgrading and getting to know a few girls. Our list of favorites exceeded 200 members, and our inbox was full of unread messages by the end of the first week, so there’s no shortage of eager ladies looking for partners.

Only one or two out of ten messages we sent out were ignored, and we only came across a handful of sparse profiles that seemed either fake or abandoned. Overall, we were happy with the experience and highly recommend MagnoliaDate to anyone interested in Asian dating.

• Keep the MagnoliaDate tab active. Search results prioritize members who are online, gaining them extra attention.
• Customize your first messages. Girls will be more likely to respond to a personalized comment than a stock conversation starter.
• Accept photos and videos sparingly. Check the ladies’ profiles to see if you actually like them before wasting your credits on unsolicited media, especially costly videos.
